Mean From a set of numbers
I Did this one in first year but i cant do it in college ... (Speechless)

For the following set of numbers
57 22 35 x 62

The mean is calculated to be 52.
What is the value of x?

The mean [average] of the 5 numbers is 52

Thus, $\frac{57+22+35+x+62}{5}=52$

Now solve for x.

Does this makes sense?

That's what i got but i cant get the "Now solve for x" part.

To solve for x: $
\frac{57+22+35+x+62}{5}=52
$

Multiply both sides by 5:

$57+22+35+x+62=260$

Then isolate x:

Note that $57+22+35+62=176$

Thus, $x+176=260 \implies \color{red}\boxed{x=84}$

Does this make sense now?
