[SOLVED] word problem
suppose you have a parttime job delivering packages. your employer pays you at a flat rate of 7$ an hour. you discover a competitor pays employees 2$ an hour plus $.35 per delivery
a. write a system of equations to model the pay (p) for (d) deliveries assume a fourhour shift
b. how many diliveries would the competitors employees have to make in for hours to earn the smae pay you in a four hour shift

a. The first employer pays $7 per hour so if you you work four hours you will have gotten $28. You dont need a variable for hours since the problem already states that you work a four hour shift. The first equation is therefor
p=28
The second employer gives you 8$ in four hours since 2*4 = 8 but they also give you 35 cents for each delivery. The second equation is p=8+.35d
these equations make up your system.
