okay i got a question for homework that says: 5 ounces is what part of a pound? (There are 6 ounces in a pound) what would the answer to this be? wouldn't it be 31.25%, that's what I thought but it isn't a choice.

5ounces is what part of 6 ounces % as a quick check you know that 5 is more than half of 6 so 31.25% sohould not make sense as it is less than 50% which is half.

You're right and the question has a typo, as there are 16 ounces in a pound, not 6.
okay so just do 5 over 16.. now you know its less than half. so yes it is 31.25
