    Solving equations for x

    I don't know why this one stumped me. I did fine on all the others in this chapter.

    Can anyone help?

    Solve for X
    4(3x 8) = 40

    Thanks in advance!

    Initial equation
    -4(3x-8)=40

    Divide both sides by -4
    3x-8 = -10

    add 8 to both sides
    3x = -2

    divide both sides by 3
    x=-2/3
