    Red face quadradic equation

    HI there. I have a question. Can anyone help?
    I have this "supose to be easy" maths question that I can not do.
    7,3575 + 147,15x = 1036.8(x)(x)
    Can any help me here...... The answer is: x=181.11 but how do I get that?

    First what is the distinction between 147,15 and 147.15, that is what is the decimal seperator here. (In other words: sort out your notation)

    Then this looks like a quadratic, bring everything over to the same side and then use whatever technique you have been shown for solving quadratics.

    Your notation confuses me. I don't understand the commas, decimal point, the (x)(x). Check the problem again and try to restate it.

    Possible solution

    Assuming commas mean decimal points and (x)(x) means x squared, then I make the answer (one of them) to be 187.77 ish.

    This is from using the quadratic formula:

    <br />
x = \frac {-b \pm \sqrt {b^2 - 4 a c}} {2 a}<br />

    Hallo ruan! Ek sal aanneem jy verstaan afrikaans.

    Ek sal ook moet aanneem dat jy net bietjie deurmekaar geraak het met jou kommas en punte.

    7,3575 + 147,15x = 1036,8 x^2

    Herrangskik nou eers.

    1036,8 x^2 - 147,15x - 7,3575= 0

    Nou gebruik die kwadratiese formule om op te los, want ons gaan erg sukkel om te faktoriseer!

    x = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}

    x = \frac{+147,15 \pm \sqrt{(-147,15)^2 - 4(1036,8)(-7,3575)}}{2(1036,8)}

    Nou ja, van hier af behoort dit vir jou maklik te wees om op te los!
