How would you simplify

1) (5a^2b^3c^-1/2^-1abc^-1)^2

2) (2/3) (2/3)^-1 (2/3)^-2 (2/3)^5

3) (3xy/z)^3

multiply each of the powers by 2 and then simplify

this is (2/3) raised to the sum of all the powers (remember, if you don't see a power written, then the power is 1). then simplify if you can

3) (3xy/z)^3
again, multiply all the powers by 3

can you continue?

here we used the rules:

$(x^a)^b = x^{ab}$ (this of course implies $\left( \frac {x^a}{y^b} \right)^c = \frac {x^{ac}}{y^{bc}}$)

$(x^ay^b)^c = x^{ac}y^{bc}$

and $x^a \cdot x^b = x^{a + b}$
