    \frac{u+7}{5} - \frac{u-7}{9} \:=\: 1

    Multiply by 45: . 45\cdot\frac{u+7}{5} - 45\cdot\frac{u-7}{9} \:=\:45\cdot1

    And we have: . 9(u+7) - 5(u-7) \:=\:45 \quad\Rightarrow\quad 9u + 63 - 5u + 35 \:=\:45

    . . 4u \:=\:-53\quad\Rightarrow\quad\boxed{ u \:=\:-\frac{53}{4}}
