I am having difficulty with problems of this type:

Write and solve an equation to find each amount of money:

1.) An amount of money is increased by $6 is $13.

2.)Two dollars less than an amount of money is $17.

3.)One third an amount of money is $8.

1.) An amount of money is increased by $6 is $13.
x + 6 = 13
x = 7


2.)Two dollars less than an amount of money is $17.

x - 2 = 17
x = 19


3.)One third an amount of money is $8.

x/3 = 8
x = 24
