Solve for x: 1/2 +3x=1/4+2x-3-1/2

Please show me how you checked it also, thanks so much

$\frac{1}{2}+3x=\frac{1}{4}+2x-3-\frac{1}{2}$

First combine the constants on the right side of your equation.

$\frac{1}{2}+3x=2x+\frac{-13}{4}$

Next subtract $\frac{1}{2}$ from both sides.

$3x=2x-\frac{-15}{4}$

Finally, subtract 2x from both sides

$x=\frac{-15}{4}$

To check, simply replace x in your original equation with $\frac{-15}{4}$ .

$\frac{1}{2}+3x=\frac{1}{4}+2x-3-\frac{1}{2}$

$\frac{1}{2}+3(\frac{-15}{4})=\frac{1}{4}+2(\frac{-15}{4})-3-\frac{1}{2}$

$\frac{1}{2}-\frac{45}{4}=\frac{1}{4}-\frac{30}{4}-3-\frac{1}{2}$

$\frac{2}{4}-\frac{45}{4}=\frac{1}{4}-\frac{30}{4}-\frac{12}{4}-\frac{2}{4}$

$\frac{-43}{4}=\frac{-43}{4}$
