    Why does 0! = 1

    The text book says because it's convenient. Is there a better explanation or proof.

    Hopefully this helps

    do not be alarmed by this. a lot of time mathematicians make definitions because they work, and they don't contradict anything else. but they allow for things to work nicely. this is fine
