    Smile Please help me simplify this expression!

    [12x/5xy^4] - [9y^2/15x^3 y^2
    Please show me how to do it step by step I'm so confused.

    I think this is what you want to simplify...

    \frac{12x}{5xy^4}-\frac{9y^2}{15x^3y^2}

    so we find the LCD is 15x^3y^4

    so we build each of the fractions. So we multiply the first one by 3x^2 and the second by y^2 to get

    \frac{12x}{5xy^4}\frac{3x^2}{3x^2}-\frac{9y^2}{15x^3y^2}\frac{y^2}{y^2}=\frac{36x^3-9y^4}{15x^3y^4}=\frac{9(4x^3-y^4)}{12x^3y^2}=\frac{3(4x^3-y^4)}{4x^3y^2}
