I would first pull out a common factor of 5:

$5(9x^2+12x+4)$

$5({\color{green}9x^2+6x}+{\color{blue}6x+4})$

Pull out a 3x from the first term, and a 2 from the second:

$5\left(3x({\color{red}3x+2})+2({\color{red}3x+2})\ right)$

$5(3x+2)(3x+2)=\color{red}\boxed{5(3x+2)^2}$
