2 x 10 - 3 x 2 + 12 ÷ 2

(1) Parentheses
(2) Multiply and divide
(3) Add and subtract
There will be more between (1) and (2).

When in doubt, put parentheses during work.

= (2 x 10) - (3 x 2) + (12 ÷ 2)
= 20 - 6 + 6
= 20


By the way, * is multiply, / is divide.

An easy way to remember the Order of Operations is:
PEMDAS = Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally or Please End My Day At School

P -- Parentheses
E -- Exponents
M -- Multiply &
D -- Divide
A -- Add &
S -- Subtract
