8 -1 1/3
what is a value?
First change the mixed number $\displaystyle 1\frac{1}{3}$ to an improper fraction, $\displaystyle 1\frac{1}{3}=\frac{4}{3}$ by multiplying the whole number 1 to the denominator and adding it to the numerator.
Now we have $\displaystyle 8-\frac{4}{3}$ In order to get a common denominator on the eight we have to multiply the top and the bottom by 3, giving us,
$\displaystyle \frac{24}{3}-\frac{4}{3}=\frac{20}{3}=6\frac{2}{3}$
