If you are asking $\frac{4}{a+2}-\frac{5}{a+2}$

Factor out the a+2 to get $\frac{1}{a+2}\bigg[4-5\bigg]=\frac{1}{a+2}[-1]=\frac{-1}{a+2}$

3. Assuming, as above, that it is $\frac{4}{a+2}-\frac{5}{a+2}$, perform the subtraction just like you always do once you have fractions with common denominators - simply subtract the numerator and leave the denominator as is.

Since 4 - 5 = -1, your answer is $\frac{-1}{a+2}$. No factoring required.
