1. ## equation,y-intercept %

Need help with this problem

The percentage of women in the 20-24 age group who have never married went from 55% in 1970 to 73% in 2000. Let 1970 be year 0 and 2000 be year 30

a) Find and intercept the slope of the line through the points (0,55) and (30,73) ........ I got this one
b) Find the equation of the line in part (a)
c) What is the meaning of the y-intercept?
d) Use the equation to predict the percentage in 2010.
e) If this trend continues, then in what year will the percentage of women in the 20-24 age group who have never married reach 100%

2. b) Use the slope you calculated and a point provided and do the following:

With a slope m and a point $(x_0,y_0)$:

$(y - y_0) = m(x - x_0)$

When you simplify it, it should be in the form of:

$y = mx + b$

c) The y-intercept is the percentage of non-married women for the year 1970 (x = 0).

d) If 1970 = 0, then 2010 = 40. Solve the equation in b with x = 40.

e) For this one, set the equation equal to 100, find the x-value and add it to 1970.
