If a ring cost 2154 and you want to know the price before 7.7% sale tax was added.
x=price before tax
2154 x 1.077= x
x= 2000
Can someone tell me if I did this right or if not how I can find the answer. Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I think there is a typo here.Quote:
2154 / 1.077= x
However, your result is correct (Clapping)
(Hint : in general, for such exercises, and since your are still in middle school, if you get a result which is round like 2000, you have great chance to be correct)
Thanks so much that was very helpful and I did mean / not x. I was just unsure of myself. Thank you again for your time
