# Math Help - combining functions

1. ## combining functions

g(x) = 2x + 8 and f(x) = 1 / x+2 find g(f^-1(-2))

2. Why is this the answer?
$g\left( {\frac{{ - 5}}{2}} \right) = ?$

3. well that would = 3

and is it because when finding an inverse, you can just insert the number in the equation: -2 = 1 / x+2 is that how it works? that was the main thing i was having trouble with, that is finding what f^-1 was... how do you find what the inverse equation is?

Yes that is how it works! Solve for x.
That is how it works!
