    how do you factorise a sum like this?


    x^2y -3xy +3xz^2 -9z^2


    can someone explain it to me?

    You have,
    (x^2y-3xy)+(3xz^2-9z^2)
    Thus,
    xy(x-3)+3z^2(x-3)
    Thus,
    (x-3)(xy+3z^2)
