    Let Tyrone travels distance x
    hence,
    Tina will travel distance (112 - x)
    Let they travel for time t
    For Tyrone, t= x/18
    For Tina, t=(112 - x)/14
    Since they have travelled for the same time,
    hence x/18= (112 - x)/14
    32x = 112*18
    x=63m
    t=63/18 = 3.5h

    time taken

    Let the time taken be t seconds.
    distance travelled from a =18thours
    distance travelled from b =14thours
    total distance =112m
    18t+14t=112
    t=3.5hours

    Hello, prisci_pq!

    Here's a back-door approach to this problem . . .

    Tyrone leaves city A on a moped traveling toward city B at 18 mph.
    At the same time, Tina leaves city B on a bicycle traveling toward city A at 14 mph.
    The distance between the two cities is 112 miles.
    How long will it take before Tyrone and Tina meet?
    Tyrone is traveling toward Tina at 18 mph.
    Tina is traveling toward Tyrone at 14 mph.
    . . Their combined speed is 32 mph.
    It is as if Tyrone waits at city A and Tina travels toward him at 32 mph.

    How long does it take Tina to travel 112 miles at 32 mph?

    Answer: . \frac{112\text{ miles}}{32\text{ mph}} \:=\:3.5\text{ hours.}
