# Math Help - 2 problems

1. ## 2 problems

Hello everyone. I've got two problems that I'm trying to solve, but I just can't seem to get it. Could someone explain the solutions to me?

Here's the first one:
Solve where t is a real number. Simplify your answer as much as possible.
If there is more than one solution, separate them with commas.
$(t+1)^2-48=0$

And the second:
Solve the following equation for x by using the quadratic formula:
$
2x^2-4x-4=0
$

If there is more than one solution, separate them with commas.

Thanks so much, guys!

$(t+1)^2=48\Rightarrow{|t+1|=\sqrt{48}}\Rightarrow{ t=-\sqrt{48}-1,t=\sqrt{48}-1}$
