    Question word problem

    to determine the number of fish in a lake,researchers tagged 150 of them.in a later sample, they found that 6 of 480 fish were tagged, about how manny fish were in the lake?

    They tagged 150 fish out of a total of X fish, so \frac{150}{X} is the ratio. Later, they found that 6 fish were tagged out of a sample of 480 fish, so \frac{6}{480} is the ratio. Set them equal and solve for X.

    so the answer is 12000..
    150 x 480 =72000/6 =12000
