    Question please help

    the scale on map is 0.25 centimeter to 50 kilometers.find the actual distance between two towns represented by 10 centimeter on the map?

    The key thing to remember is that the units must match in a ratio problem

    \frac{map}{actual}

    \frac{.25cm}{50km}=\frac{10cm}{x}

    Clear the fractions by multiplying by the LCD (or cross multiply)

    (0.25cm)x=(10cm)(50km) \iff x=\frac{(10cm)(50km)}{0.25cm}=2000km
