    word problem

    Any help would be greatly appreciated :~)
    A train covered 120mi at a certain speed. had the train been able to trvel 10mph faster, the trip would have been 2 hours shorter how fast did the train go? Solve using an equation.

    Normally, the train travels rt=120....[1]

    But, given the condtions of 10 mph faster and 2 hours shorter:

    (r+10)(t-2)=120....[2]

    Solve [1] for r or t and sub into [2]. Solve away.
