    Exclamation Logs

    does any1 have an ideas as when to use log in a question.???

    To solve for exponents.

    For example:

    <br />
10^x = 100

    Take the log of both sides:

    <br />
\log {10^x} = \log {100}

    Using laws of logarithms we have:

    x\cdot \log {10} = \log {100}

    Then simply calculate the logs and solve for x:

    x = 2
