    solving inequalities

    1) 8c-(c-5)>c+17

    How can I solve this??

    we need to isolate the c's so

    8c-c+5 > c+17

    subract c and 5 from both sides to get...

    6c > 12

    divide both sides by 6 and we are done

    c > 2

    So our solution is all values of c greater than 2.
