Science and medicine. It is estimated that the Earth is loosing 4000 species of plants and animals every year. If S represents the number of species living last year, how many species are on Earth this year?
I hope I'm not taking this way too simply. If S is the number of species last year, then after one year it would have lost 4000 species, so the total number of species is S-4000.
