simplify exponents

Ok, I have

(6x^2)^2 (3x^2 y)^3

I think this is

(36x^4) (27x^6 y^3)

Which would be 972x^10 y^3 but it does not seem right?

Could it be 53X^10 y^3

Or are both answers completely wrong?

Your result is perfect.

I'm just curious: Why do you think your result might be wrong?

The number just seemed so big that I thought that since I added the X^ numbers that perhaps I had to add the numbers also instead of multiplying them.
