Well, you had better start showing your work. Otherwise, you won't be able to complete the assignment. Frankly, KacyRose, if you REALLy cannot do the first one, why are you in an "Honors" class?

You may wish to reexamine the second one. Are we talking about belts or pumps?

1.) Hint: look at 36 as 3/4 of a whole number. What is 36 3/4 of? 48 right? Each "piece" of whole number divided into quarters is 12. What is 48 60% of? Think of terms of your "pieces" in units of 8. ;) Use the same application of percentage that I just used and you'll have your final answer

TKHunny- first of all i dont appreciate you telling me what classes i should or shouldnt be in...just because im having trouble with one thing doesnt mean i shouldnt be in the class. second of all im not asking you to solve the entire thing... i just need help setting them up. Please dont post on my thread if you arent willing to help and just want to criticize. Thank you to anyone else who is willing to help me.

It remains amazing to me how often honesty is taken as criticism. I stand by my initial reply. Can you offer not even a single equation? Not a single relationship? Not a single definition? If you are having trouble walking, you probably should not be trying to run.

1) Just percentages. Why are you struggling with this?

2) Standard shared work problem. Have you never seen one?

3) How much salt is there in the first solution? How much water is needed with that much salt in order to achieve the second solution?

4) Distance = Rate * Time - Now write down the equations given in the problem statement.

5) E = Amount at 8%, S = Amount at 7.2% - Now write down the equations given in the problem statement.

6) Standard mixture problem. Draw a picture and equate sulfuric acid content in each of the three pieces.

7) Shared work problem with a slight variation. Demonstrate #2 and we can talk about this one.

8) Give the two numbers names and write down the equations given in the problem statement.

9) Shared work problem with a slight variation. Demonstrate #2 and we can talk about this one.

10) M = # of Members on the ski trip. Write down the equations given in the problem statement.

In your previous algebra classes, you learned to manipulate expressions and equations. "Setting Up" is the part you are supposed to be learning in this class.
