Try expanding each equation and then simplifying.

Do you know how to expand? If so, then how about doing what I suggested. Then show what you've done if you're still stuck.

6. $\displaystyle -4(6+n)+3=38$

$\displaystyle -24 - 4n + 3 = 38$

$\displaystyle -21 - 4n = 38$

$\displaystyle -4n = 59$

$\displaystyle n = -\frac{59}{4}$
