    Proportions and word problems

    I have a few word problems that are getting the best of me. I can figure out what I think the answer is but I am having problems figuring out the formula to use.

    the first one is:
    If a person cross country skis for 35min,m how many calories will be burned (we are given a chart that shows 700 cal/h)

    I may be wrong, but it sounds as though youy can go about it this way:

    If there are 60 minutes in an hour, and you can burn 700 calories per hour, divide 700 by 60, then multiply that number by 35. That should give ou the correct amount of calories burned in 35 minutes.

    \frac{35}{60}=\frac{x}{700}

    24500=60x

    x=408\; Calories
