Thread: Solving Inequalities

I have what seems to be a basic question in front of me but even when using the quadratic equation I get some rather impossible numbers.

x^2 - 4 < 1 (a fraction...not sure how to transcribe that one)
x + 2

Can anyone show me how to solve this?

x^2 -4 < x+2 multiplying up

then take it over:

x^2 - x -6 <0

using quadratic:
x=-1 (+/-) (rt(1-(4*-6))/2)

x= -1 (+/-) 5 all divided by 2

x=-3 and x= 2

then you do the rest.

someone might show you better with latex.
