Mr Rayon
I know...I know another easy linear equation
Solve this:

9x+28 7x-6
------ = ------ -5
5 2

I am concerned about the "-5" and how it gets put into the working-out of the linear equations.
Please show working-out. All help is appreciated!!!

"7x-6," is supposed to be on the second numerator. And the "2" is meant for the second denominator. Soz guys.

multiply through by 10 and see what happens

Is this right so far?

2(9x+28) 5(7x-6) 2
--------- = -------- -
10 10 10

Ten as in each denominator.

the point of multiplying through by 10 was to get rid of the fractions. you still have fractions here, i'm not sure what you did

you're not getting what i'm saying...

start with $\frac {9x + 28}5 = \frac {7x - 6}2 - 5$

multiply through by 10, we get:

$2(9x + 28) = 5(7x - 6) - 50$

now continue

Mr Rayon
2(9x+28)= 5(7x-6)-50
18x+56=35x-30-50
56+30+50=35x-18x
136=17x
8=x

I get it now. Thanks
