    simplifying by collecting like terms

    3w-8-2w-4wsquared-17
    i dont get this how do u work out the 4wsquared bit? do u minus 17 from 8?

    3w - 8 - 2w - 4w^2 - 17

    Let's re-arrange first

    - 4w^2 + 3w- 2w  - 17 - 8

    Now simplify.

    - 4w^2 + w - 25

    -(4w^2 - w + 25)

    But this does not factorise nicely at all...
