    Sovle for x

    Hello all,

    I am trying to solve for x
    However I am confused.

    -2(x-7)=2x+34

    -2x+14=2x+34
    -14 -14
    -2x=2x+20
    -2x -2x
    -4x=20
    /-4 /-4
    x=-5

    However, I try to test this by replacing x with -5

    -2(-5-7)=2(-5)+34
    10+14=10+34
    24=44

    So I have the feeling I am doing something wrong.

    here is the mistake...

    -2(-5-7) = 2(-5) + 34
    10 + 14 = -10 + 34
    24 = 24
