# Math Help - Simple for you.. hard for me :(

1. ## Simple for you.. hard for me :(

[2 - y-6q/y-3q] / [y2 -16q2/y2 - 2yq - 5q2] / y2 + yq - 12q2 / 4y + 8yq

Any help is greatly appreciated

Order of operations says to attack the brackets first, then the parenthesis, then multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction last. Are you sure there are no brackets or parenthesis around your third and fourth group of terms?

3. the last part is 1 part so there is no 4th part... and yes there is no brackets.

I know how to tackle them... I can't get it working

Once again I'm going to be anal, but this time in a good cause, at least.

You are saying that your problem is to simplify
$\frac{\left ( \frac{2 - y - \frac{6q}{y} - 3q}{y^2 - \frac{16q^2}{y^2} - 2yq - 5q^2} \right )}{y^2} + yq - \frac{12q^2}{4y} + 8yq$

Since I really doubt this is what you are trying to work with, please use parentheses to clear this up. There are too many ways to interpret this otherwise.

5. Thanks, though I managed to work it out after a lot of trial and error
