can anyone explain how to solve this. and is the formula (a-b)(a square + ab + b square)?..thanks

Do you mean $40 - 5t^3$?

$40 - 5t^3 = 5(8 - t^3)$

And we know that
$a^3 - b^3 = (a - b)(a^2 + ab + b^2)$
