I am needing to work out how to use a calculator for the problem below.

The problem is not the calculator, it is the units.

$\displaystyle 30~kN = 30 \times 1000~N$ <-- The symbol for the unit "Newtons" is capitolized.

$\displaystyle 10~cm = 10 \times \frac{1}{100}~m$

So

$\displaystyle W = 30 \times 1000 \times 10 \times \frac{1}{100}~Nm$

is what?
