    4/y+5 - 6/y-5= 12/y squared - 25

    What is (x+5)(x-5) when multiplied and expanded?

    Colby can you help me with this problem, i didn't get a good response
    TKhunny did give you a good response.

    \frac{4}{y+5} - \frac{6}{y-5}= \frac{12}{y^2 - 25}

    The LCD is y^2 - 25 = (y+5)(y-5)

    Multiply the entire equality by that, and you should have a quadratic to solve for.
