    x + 2y = -6

    So x = -6 - 2y

    Set that x-value into the second equation

    -2(-6 - 2y) + 3y = 12

    12 + 4y + 3y = 12

    7y = 0

    y = 0

    Set y = 0 in the first equation.

    x - 0 = -6

    x = -6
