    \left( {1,5} \right) \\ \rightarrow 1<x<5
    \left[ {1,5} \right) \\ \rightarrow 1 \le x<5
    \left( {1,5} \right] \\ \rightarrow 1<x \le 5
    \left[ {1,5} \right] \\ \rightarrow 1 \le x \le 5

Roughly speaking "(" or ")" means "does not include" and "[" or "]" means "includes."
