Multiply them out. The only answer that sums to 56 is D.

Possibly d). If you can multiply any number by four and the resulting product is less then the 56 then you can subtract that product from 56 and be left with a smaller number that you can perhaps divide by 4 in your head. This 'might' be the idea behind the exercise.

the only thing I can think of is to change the plus sign for division sign in C, not too sure of the nature of this question though, you get 2x28/2x2, which is 28/2=14
