Ratios mean if A gets 5, then B gets 2, C gets 4, D gets 3. It is not necessary that A should get 5. If A gets 5 times x then B will get 2 times x(where x can be any number). Can you understand the concept behind it?

Hello, burgess!

Quote:

If C gets \$1000 more than D, what is the share of A?

We are given: . $\begin{array}{cccc} A&B&C&D \\ \hline 5a&2a&4a&3a\end{array}$

We are told that: . $C \:=\: D + 1000 \quad\Rightarrow\quad 4a \:=\:3a+1000$

Can you finish?
