# Thread: Solving for a matrix?

1. ## Solving for a matrix?

I'm totally lost.

[-18 8 -11] = [-9 8 -8]-3x

I just tried solving it backwards.

[-27 0 -19] = -3x
divide by -3

[9 0 19/3] = x
Is that right?

[-18 8 -11] - [-9 8 -8] = [-9 0 -3]

not [-27 0 -19]

then you are left with

-3x = [-9 0 -3]

which should be pretty easy to solve

Antarctica? Really?

How come the equation turned into [-18 8 -11] - [-9 8 -8] = [-9 0 -3]
but then you still put -27. Wouldn't -18 - -9 be -9?
I put Antarctica because I hate putting information online

Never mind. I looked at my post while I typed this so I was thinking you put -27.
My bad. I get it now. Thanks/.
