    Help required understanding a basic poker math equation

    Here are two sets of equations to calculate separate things:

    How often a pot-size bluff has to work to be profitable
    0 = 100F (size of bet)(1-F)
    0 = 100F 100(1-F)
    0 = 100F 100 + 100F
    100 = 200F 100/200 = F
    .5 = F 50% of the time or more

    How often a half-pot bluff has to work to be profitable
    0 = 100F (size of bet)(1-F)
    0 = 100F 50(1-F)
    0 = 100F 50 + 50F
    50 = 150F 50/150 = F
    .33 = F 33% of the time or more

    Could someone explain to me how I need to interpret this?

    "F" is "how often a half-pot bluff has to work to be profitable" and the other variable is "size of bet

    The first one says that if the bet (of whatever monetary units you are using) is 100 then "half pot bet" (a bet of 50) must work 50% of the time in order to be successful.
    But if the bet is only 50, then the "half pot bet" (a bet of 25) only has to work 1/3 of the time (that's actually 33.33333.... %) in order to be successful.
