But...Your equation forms complex answer as $\displaystyle b^2 - 4ac = -ve$
$\displaystyle 2x^2 - 4x + 5 > 0$
$\displaystyle \therefore x>1+1.224744871i$ or $\displaystyle x<1-1.224744871i$
