    Subtracting equations

    If I were to distribute the negative it would look like this (5x^6 + 9x^8 - 4 - 2x^7) + (5 + 9x^ 7 - 7x^8 - 3x^ 6) right? The right answer is letter C, but I got 2x^8 + 7x^ 7 + 2x^6 +1
Can anyone shed some light into this? Thanks!

The 5 in the second expression is negative, not positive.
