# Math Help - 2 Questions... Need help!

1. ## 2 Questions... Need help!

I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to even start, nevertheless, solving these problems.

The question's read...

1) At Otto's egg farm, Otto has found that when he charges $0.05 per egg he sells so many eggs that he cannot keep up with demand and has zero profit. When he charges$0.17 per egg he sells so few eggs that he has to throw some out and is also left with zero profit. Currently he charges $0.15 per egg and has a profit of$124 per day. Let P(c) be his profit in dollars from charging "c" dollars per egg. Assume that P(c) is a quadratic function of "c".

a) Find a formula for P(c)
b) What should Otto charge to maximize his profit? What would that profit be?

And...

2) Marvin was standing on the roof of his house throwing water balloons onto people on the sidewalk below. When he let the balloon go the balloon was 45 cubits off of the ground. He learned through trial and error that in order to hit someone on teh ground he had to have the balloon reach a maximum height of 55 cubits off of the ground 2 seconds after he threw it. Let h(t) be the height of the water balloon in cubits "t" seconds are it was thrown. Assume that height is a quadratic function of time.

a) Find a formula for h(t)
b) Find the time when the balloon hits the ground.

Does h(t) = 55t + 2 ? If not, then what is it?

Any help? :/

For question 1, since you have the zeroes of your function, you can write P(c) = a(c - 0.05)(x - 0.17). Use your other known point to evaluate a.
