Try to solve the equations simulataneously for x as you would if c was just a number. You will get a quadratic equation for x in terms of c. The solutions to the quadratic equation are the points where the 2 lines cross, if the quadratic equation has complex roots then the lines do not cross. Find the range of values of c that gives the quadratic complex roots.
