    Finding "x" in logarithms

    I'm having trouble understanding how to do solve a particular type of logarithm, I don't quite understand how the rule works.

    in problems like this, how would you solve for x?
    log_4x=3

    and this
    log_4{3x}=3

    \,b > 0\,,\,\log _b x = a\quad  \Rightarrow \quad x = b^a
